The secret of getting ahead is getting started

Updated: Jan 27, 2020

Agatha Christie once wrote - The secret of getting ahead is getting started. How true these words are. When we don't take action on decisions that we want in life, what happens? NOTHING HAPPENS. Why, because nothing changed, you thought about it, and that's where it stopped. You did nothing about it.

So what do you do then?

You take action, it's simple. By saying I am going to do that now, you do it. It's as simple as

5 4 3 2 1. Try it, when you are lying in your bed and you start to say I need to get up, count from 5 4 3 2 1 and then take action by getting out of bed. Your mind says times up, take action now.

We can apply this in life, to any situation; you need to make that call and you find everything else to do instead. 5 4 3 2 1 make that call.

It seems madness to think that something so easy can make you more proactive, but it works.

Try it today and use the 5 4 3 2 1 process for everything. You are going to eat that piece of chocolate you don't need. You consciously say 5 4 3 2 1, walk away. You know you are smoking way too much, instead of taking that cigarette out of the pack, look at it and then

5 4 3 2 1 walk away. You need to sort out the man drawer, 5 4 3 2 1.

Feel the satisfaction of taking action, and make the 5 4 3 2 1 rule part of your life.

Remember if Agatha Christie did not take action by putting her thoughts onto paper, where would we be without Hercule Poirot?

If you want to be more proactive in life and you need that little help.
